DACCO was incorporated as a nonprofit agency in 1973 through the leadership of representatives from the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County governments, Tampa Chamber of Commerce, United Way and other organizations in Tampa.&nbsp; Originally, DACCO provided drug abuse planning, coordination, and monitoring for local governmental units.&nbsp; In 1975, DACCO received funding to provide drug treatment services.&nbsp; Since that time, DACCO has evolved into an expansive, comprehensive, community-based substance abuse service system.&nbsp;
