Services

The agency provides services to children, youth, adolescents, and adults, as well as to the co-occurring population (mental health/substance abuse) and the homeless community.

History

DACCO was incorporated as a nonprofit agency in 1973 through the leadership of representatives from the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County governments, Tampa Chamber of Commerce, United Way and other organizations in Tampa.  Originally, DACCO provided drug abuse planning, coordination, and monitoring for local governmental units.  In 1975, DACCO received funding to provide drug treatment services.  Since that time, DACCO has evolved into an expansive, comprehensive, community-based substance abuse service system.

As the needs of the community have evolved, so has DACCO’s programs to include recovery support services, community outreach, aftercare, and opiate maintenance programs.  DACCO also provides housing support, via apartments owned by DACCO, which is offered to families based on availability.

DACCO has a strong history of receiving exemplary ratings on accreditation site visits as well as scores greater than 90% on all licensure and financial monitoring visits.   DACCO has remained dedicated to the provision of prevention, intervention, substance abuse, and co-occurring services to ensure that all members of the community have access to fair and impartial prevention and treatment services.
